How to prepare for your PROposal with these 5 tips.

How to prepare for your PROposal with these 5 tips.

Phew what a loaded topic! There are many details to execute your perfect proposal, so we came up with 5 tips to help you prepare your perfect and personalized Hawaii proposal.

    1.    Get the blessing -  “Traditionally” you would go meet their father, in person and sit down with him and ask if you can have your partner's hand in marriage.  However, times are a bit different these days.  While the conversation may not be between father and fiance any longer, we do encourage having conversations with loved ones. Reach out to someone you feel comfortable talking to - parents, grandparents,  other family members, best friends, or even your fur babies.   A marriage is not just about the couple, it is about love and bringing loved ones together.  Not only will you score some major points with your partner, you could even get some great ideas for your proposal from their loved ones.

    2.    Planning  for the right ring  -  Budget -  If you google “How much should I spend on an engagement ring” you’ll get results ranging from 5% of your salary to 3 months of your salary.  Let us tell you, no one can tell you how much to spend.  We’ve seen proposals without rings and we’ve seen proposals with rings worth more than $100,000.  Figure out your budget and what you can afford at the time and stick with it.  Just remember you can always upgrade. Style - This one is a bit tricky.  There are hundreds, maybe thousands of different ring styles.  How do you choose the right one?  Top things to figure out. First figure out the metal: Gold? Silver? Platinum?  Start by checking their jewelry box.  Is it all one type or is it mixed? If it’s mixed we suggest going with what they have the majority of  Size -  Picture this; you have the perfect proposal set up, you look into your loved ones eyes, you drop to your knee, you present the ring, you go to slide it on ANNNNDDD it doesn’t fit….  What a buzz kill as you sit there and fumble with the ring trying to jam it on their finger because it's 2 sizes too small.  We are here to make sure that does not happen. The easiest way to get the size is to take one of their rings to a jeweler.  If they do not have any rings, you can do the string trick. Get a little string and while they are sleeping, place it around their ring finger and get a measurement you can take into a jeweler - read this blog for more details Here (https://www.proposalhawaii.com/post/3-sneaky-tips-on-how-to-find-your-partner-s-ring-size-before-you-propose).

    3.    Plan how you are going to do it.  Do you want a simple proposal at home, do you want to do it on the jumbo screen at the big game, or do you have no idea and need some help? Each proposal is unique and there's not a specific way to do it.  If you have no idea, or if you know a few elements you would like, finding a proposal planner will be very helpful.  We have planned hundreds! We can help from start to finish or if you just want us there to capture the big moment we can do that too.

    4.    Pick the time and date and STICK TO IT.  This one is a lot easier said than done.  We’ve heard countless times that when you get your hand on the ring you want to drop to your knee immediately.  You’ve already put so much time into planning the perfect proposal, give them that special moment you want to give them

    5.    Put some thought into what you are going to say. - We can put this one in the “a lot easier said than done'' category too.  Try not to let your nerves get the best of you when you drop to your knee - and just blurt out “will you marry me?”  Open up a little and let your partner know why you want to spend the rest of your life with them.  Let them know the moment you knew you were in love with them, tell them you love that quirky thing they do, let them know they’ve made you the luckiest person on the planet and you can’t wait to spend the rest of your life with them.
